Vasque Mikca Hiking Boots By aufgehts from Charleston,SC on 10/05/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It always makes me nervous to buy a new pair of hiking boots before a big trip but after reading the reviews, I'm glad I bought these. After the first day of use, there was no rubbing or sore spots. I've used these in the Grand Canyon, Zion, and Bryce and felt sure in every step as they have superior traction.
By lovemntns from North Carolina on 08/25/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I got these this summer and took them on an 8 day backpacking trip after only breaking them in on about 5 hikes. I thought they gave me great support, even with a really heavy pack. They broke in really fast and I didn't get a single blister on the trip. They survived the rain really well too.
By Collegiate Peaks Hiker from Buena Vista, CO on 08/03/2008 Pros: Durable, Great Traction Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: These boots were way too narrow. I would recommend ordering wide for medium width. Due to the fit, I am was not able to wear them on the trail, and am not qualified to rate their other traits.
By Light Hiker from Orange County, CA on 05/26/2008 Pros: Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this pair of boots for light day hikes which would probably suit its purpose but the sizing was not true - it felt half of a size too small and although I'd bought wide, it felt narrower than a medium width. The boots look nice but I am returning them for a bigger size.

By Long Distance Multi Day Hiker from Tacoma, WA on 12/31/2007 Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I took these boots almost immediately on a six day hike thru proper back country in Tasmania and was disappointed. They're fine for everyday use (which I do use them for) but couldn't offer the support for more challenging, longer hikes. They broke in TOO much and I don't feel I have good ankle support in them anylonger (owned them less than a year). They also couldn't support the added weight of a decent sized pack. I definetly need to step up to a more aggressive boot. They also couldn't take the wet (I'm from the Seattle area). The narrowness makes individual toes go numb. I took them hill hiking in Ireland and Scotland as well and rolled my ankle on uneven rocky terrain. All in all, I'd say fine for short day hikes and running errands.
By Bird Geek's Wife from Southern Indiana on 12/27/2007 Pros: Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: These seemed really great - but way too narrow for me. I'm a solid 5 1/2 and my foot is NOT wide - never have and issue with Med width.
By Donna in Utah from Vernal, Utah on 12/17/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Years ago I owned a pair of Vasque mountaineering boots which I used for backpacking. I loved the boots and had them for many years. After raising a family and, once again being able to get out in the hills, I needed a pair of boots that would be comfortable, water resistant, and of good quality. I was delighted to find Vasque boots once again and knew I would be getting the quality I had experienced in the past. I love these boots. The only thing that could be improved is to have a more orthotically shaped insole with better arch support. My everyday shoes are generally shoes which really fit the foot, such as Merrel's, K-Swiss. The Vasque boot does not have that feature and, for me, it is very noticeable.
By HappyInGolden from Golden, CO on 12/08/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold weather, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've hiked in these boots 3 times and they already feel broken in. They are my 2nd pair of Vasque's - great for someone with flat & wide feet. I used them today in 3 inches of snow & Smartwool socks while trail running. My feet were toasty warm & comfortable. If you order 1/2 size larger you can wear your orthodics.
